I think you need to add in # anchors on the individual links - right now the only page you can visit is the main page off of a URL. No bookmarking, or linking to, any other page on the site.
Hi Michael,
You can indeed view any slide based off the # anchor of your choosing, but I believe you are referring to the address bar in that; When a link is clicked to slide to a new panel, the address bar does not change. You can copy&paste links with the desired effect however. For instance:
http://wordpress.bustatheme.com/coda/#instructions
I will update the next version with the functionality to change the address bar when you navigate through the site though.
How to view my post while i want to show in index the pages, where link to go to my post page.
If my post i so long over the panel, how i cant see it.
Response to: nico & karn,
Currently there is no way to put posts into wp coda. However, I am almost done with the next version which allows for content that is taller than height of the slider as well as posts. I’m deciding whether or not to make it load content via AJAX, simply go to a similarly styled, link to AJAX/popup content or other like solutions. There are a lot of ways to go with this theme and I want to make sure I go in the right direction.

Hey Greg, this is a tremendous theme! Very good work. Is there any way I could get my hands on the PSD source files, I’m trying to separate the text and background layers and make a blue version. Cheers!

Hey Greg.
Fantastic theme. Couple of Q’s.
1. Is it possible to insert a scroll into the page area? My content is longer than the current page size and the content is getting cut off.
2. Is it possible to display a blog within one of the tabs?
Cheers!
Ian
Hi Ian,
Inserting an inner div in the panel and giving it overflow of auto will do the trick, but it causes a buggy animation. I’m playing with it now to come up with the best solution.
As for displaying the blog within a tab, yes. It is of course dependent on your first issue though. I hope to release a second version of this theme soon that is more robust and will in fact handle a blog and single pages.
wow!!! amazing theme.I might use it for my Designer portfolio. thanks a lot for setting it up for Free.
First thing first… Great work, your theme is excellent !!!!
But I got an issue… On dashboard I can’t activate the theme on design menu, nothing appears?? I already activate the WP Coda plugin but no theme, blank site??!!! I even reinstall everything following your instructions and still nothing… Do any you have any idea for resolving this problem? Thanks.
Nice work again!
Hi Sidy,
I wouldn’t know where to begin to be honest. This is the first report I have had the theme “won’t install”. What version of WordPress are you using (2.6 I assume)? If you’re getting a blank page I would have to ask if you have error_reporting and display_errors on in your php.ini as a blank page when there ought not be often means you have a php error and it’s simply not displaying.
Ok I found the solution. It seems the theme folder should not included only WP Coda but Classic and Default also. Which means I didn’t really verify any php files. Looks like it was just my mistake and unknow common behave of Wordpress with custom theme and installation, so if you or someone know this trouble yet, I’ll be still interested to learn what it is. Thanks anyway for your answer. And nice job,it looks really awesome…!!!
Ahh, I see what your problem was. You do not need to keep the folders inactive themes after they have been deactivated though.
This is a brilliant theme! Well done.
Just wanted to let you know I’ve added it to http://www.bestwpthemes.com, a collection of the best of the best WordPress themes available today.
Brilliant! This theme has the potential to be used for all sorts for websites (I’m thinking campaign website).
I look forward to the next version, which will hopefully include the psds and scrolling feature
THANK YOU!
Still learning & coming up with my new blog….this theme is really beautiful and very suitable for personal/campaign/event sites. Really simple & clean design. Who will believe this is essentially a blog-powered site. Impressive!
Bless you! You did that rare and brilliant thing of making all your links absolute so that I can simply copy the source into an editor (ConTEXT is great), save the working page and start playing.
As noted by others, the jQuery history feature would be a good addition. I use the ycodaslider, but find that their history feature only works in FF, not IE or Opera (well, it works for external linking into tabs, but does not interact with back button or refresh).
… other question: putting images on the tabs, like in Coda.
… and graphically: it’s beautiful.
Best, Mike
Is there a PSD available to edit the ‘download’, ‘learn how’, ‘talk back’ buttons, as well as the logo?
Hi SynGamer,
I will make a PSD available to edit and release the 2nd version this week. I’ll try to have a release on Friday. Hopefully it will be the last release. I have been invited to create a theme for Smashing Magazine and would like to get that released ASAP. I’m proud of WP CODA, but I don’t want to be known as the “WP CODA guy” forever ![]()
This theme is amazing but I cannot get it to activate or even show up on the admin panel - any ideas?

Wow!
I knew this theme would be a big hit with a select crowd, but I had no idea it was going to garner as much attention as it has … or as much praise.
GG,
As a software developer with a very big project being released this week, I’m not entirely sure I’ll be able to release the update before the weekend. If I don’t, I’ll release it over the weekend.
Have been toying around with this for a couple hours to find method of packing content in the contained space. Tabs work pretty well.

Love the design!
The page is kind of slow to load though, even on my fast computer with lots of memory. Also, when I click on the “Talk Balk” button which takes me to thi spage, when I click my browser’s Back button it reloads the whole page over again which takes a long time rather than just pulling it from the cache. Any way to fix these two related issues?
Hello Architect,
I have not noticed this issue personally or had anyone with the issue contact me to this point, but I’d be happy to look into it with you.
What browser/OS are using? What is your internet speed?
IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519
running on:
100Mbps Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller
2.8Ghz Pentium 4, 1GB of RAM
Architect,
I’m running XPsp2 as well, and checking with IE6 I get no slow load time or caching issue. You will notice a slow load time at first (depending on your internet connection) because I’m caching all the css images on the first load (which IE does before displaying any images unlike other browsers), but after that it should be quite speedy. I clicked on the link in the footer to go to my personal blog and then used the back button to see if it had to re-cache the images, but the page loaded immediately for me.
You may want to check your cache settings.
As with your network card, it has no bearing on your actual internet speed. My guess is that there is either a substantial ping between you and the server or you’re broadband is inherently slow. You can check this by running a traceroute to the server (Run -> cmd -> tracert sitename.com)
Beyond that, I’d recommend you stop using IE6 entirely. I made sure the site functioned in IE6, but that’s about it. Given the aesthetic and functional aspects of the site, I’m surprised it works as well as it does in such an old browser.
With all that said, I’m sad to say that I simply don’t have a solution to your problem because I can’t replicate it.
Thanks for looking into it. Glad to know it’s just something on my own computer I can fix. I’ll take your advice and upgrade. Much appreciated.
Hello Greg,
What do I need to do in order to change that purple background color? I’m trying to totally change the colors to my own colors that I want but I’m having trouble finding the line in the CSS file that will allow me to change that purple background! I already changed the color of the images, etc. but I can’t figure out how to change that purple background.
Thanks Greg for all your hard work. Looking forward to the new release hopefully this weekend with cforms support. Very cool adaptation of those javascript classes.
I solved my earlier problem of not getting the theme to show up - maybe others will benefit from this?
I used Dreamweaver as means of downloading and then uploading the theme. The files from the zip when using Dreamweaver get put into the wrong folders. Therefore, you must FTP and you must understand WP folders in such a way that you know where to put the files which is really not that big a deal.
I think using themes in combination with plugins in fantastic. Is this becoming more common?
BTW, Greg - if you want to see what I did with it (the site is not live and I WILL give you some link love) feel free to take a look.
i set up my own a few months ago at http://www.djkuki.com. would have loved to been able to use this template instead… good job though!!!
@dj kuki
If you aren’t using Firebug as an extension of Firefox, it is probably time.
The main purple background is a repeated image in the main body tag, a png file that you will have to remake in a graphics program.
Hello Greg,
First I want to commend you on your work creating this theme. It is stylish and exremely useful and will be writing a shining review soon. On to my (of course) question…
In my setup I have pages numbered by week of the year. 33-52 for the remainder of 08. I have created the pages in advance and want them all available (and 52 for 09). However, only 33-41 are appearing or accessible. Can you point me to where I need to make code changes to accomplish this?
I appreciate any help you are able to offer on this.
What a beautiful theme! I have just started looking at it, trying to see if it might meet my need for a new site I’m trying to bring up.
One tiny thing I noticed was that it didn’t handle page page being made private (using WP 2.6). The page still shows up with a title of “private: xxxx”.
Jade,
Check your site without being logged in as an administrator and tell me if private posts still come up for you.

Greg, oh duh…Thank you. Cockpit error.
Looking forward to the future updates of this theme. And congrats on being invited to do a theme for Smash.Mag!
Look for #1d1a2c in:

}
That’s the background color you want to change.
Hi Angie,
I’m almost ready to release the PSD. Because the color scheme is one I will be using on my personal site redesign, I’m not so crazy about releasing the PSD with the current color scheme (Yeah I should have that one through a little better) so I’m reworking it into a blue/grey-blue scheme and will release it as CODA BLUE.
If you’re a registered user here you will get an email when a new post is made, so you’ll know right when it’s released.
Hi Greg
Thank you very much. I am really looking forward to the release. I am more a developer than a designer and the psd will be very helpful. Your theme is one of the best I have seen and you are very helpful. I am a registered user and I have been receiving the latest posts.
Thanks again
The only complaint is that you made the theme SO hard to edit.
You should’ve included the PSD source files…
To make the theme work on Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6) I had to change the code on both line 8 and line 17 of the themes index.php:
from:
<?=$post->post_name?>
to:
<?php echo $post->post_name ; ?>
I have found this change needed on serveral plugins as well because Windows and PHP cannot execute the shorthand code. I use PHP 5.2.5 and Windows Server 2003 SP2.
I hope this helps anyone who is trying to install on IIS.
Joel,
I know, and I do apologize for the inconvenience. CODA BLUE will include the PSD. I will also include a version of the purple PSD that will allow you to change the header links, logo, etc.
Kerry,
Thank you. Although, “Windows” does not prevent PHP for executing code in short tags, the option may be turned off by default in some configurations. I will look into fixing this in the next version for those of you who are stuck with IIS though.
Great theme!
I was just wondering if it was possible to link to my posts from the pages as I really need to be able to use my posts on the site
Shelma32,
This functionality will be in the next version dubbed CODA BLUE. Although I have not uploaded the scrolling content / displaying posts functionality of it yet — you can see the color scheme in action here:

Kevin,
Take a look at the query_posts() function. You can accomplish what you want by excluding certain categories/pages.
Liz,
I’m finishing up some other business this week that will allow me to free up a LOT more time to work on free themes for BustATheme.
Mr Web,
Yes. Support for cformsII will be included in the next version, so much as support for cformsII can be included of course.
Greg,
I read through the query_posts() documentation and I setup a condition to exclude a certain category. It does, indeed, exclude them but I can’t access them using their direct URL. I believe I would use the MyDomain.com/#Name-Of-Hidden-Post structure and that just takes me to my homepage.
Any help is much appreciated.. This is the only thing holding me back from using the theme.
Kevin
WOW, love the Coda blue and can’t wait till it’s available for download. Awesome work man, keep up the good work.
Kevin,
You are correct. WP CODA was designed to be very basic.
CODA BLUE will solve a lot of these issues, but there are some limitations that this type of theme is going to have just by nature. I’m fiddling with CODA BLUE to see how many of these limitations I can lift.
As i am new to php, css and all this web stuff I have a dumb question, will I be able to use this as a blog persay? Like could I have each tab be a category? Like The first tab is an introduction of the site, the second one be about cars, 3rd about planes etc… and I could post articles and stuff? Also is this gonna be widget ready? Sorry for all the questions, it’s just a beautiful theme and would so love to use the coda blue when ever it’s available. Thanks man ![]()
dude.. this is an excellent piece of work. I may be using it for my portfolio site. Do let us know when the new version with posts enabled is up. I’ll definitely give you name drops ![]()
Great theme! I had bit of trouble setting it up initially, but it turned out that I had a lightbox plugin that was messing up the javascripts.

I don’t know PHP and have been doing my best to guess, but would anyone post some simple instructions on how to remove the “download” “learn how” and “talk back” elements in the theme? or even a copy of their stylesheet.css without that part of the theme would be great. Love the theme Greg!
Do you have the ability to make a custom header in this theme? I would like to put my logo on it. Also, any chance you could have rotating headers? This theme is BY FAR the best free theme I’ve seen. I’ve been looking for something clean that would allow me to post large images, and this is PERFECT! When will the new one be out…I’d love to have the option to change the colors.
This is a great theme! Thanks for providing it!
I have a question about why the theme is not displayed properly in Internet Explorer 7. The header_bg and page_header are not properly blending with the background. However, the page looks flawless in Firefox 3.0.1 so I’m not sure what exactly the issue is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!
I’m out of town until Monday or Tuesday on vacation, but I’ll be able to respond to everyone in more detail when I return.
I’ll also hopefully be having lunch with one of the folks at Coda while I’m in Portland on Monday to discuss the impact of their site and this theme.

hey, lovely theme, no doubt about it…
but when i go to chose the theme in the theme viewer it says “Broken Themes:
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Name Description
Stylesheet is missing.”
i removed the images with your text in it (background images), but other than that, didn’t change a thing,
any clues?
scratch that, i uploaded the whole zipped file.
i see now you have to unzip it, go to the theme, zip it again, upload it, then unzip.
cheers!
Hi,
I am having trouble adjusting the sorting order. In the instructions it sais: “WP CODA displays content tabs from oldest(first) to newest(last). This behavior can be changed by changing the order parameter in the same place mentioned above.”
I want to sort the pages by the page order number. What would I have to change in index.php?
Thanks!
Hi Knoth,
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/query_posts
Use that function as a reference to change the order variable on line 2 in index.php.
As for CODA BLUE, I’m undecided. I’ve been chatting with the folks at Coda and before I release the next version there are some things we need to discuss further.
If you downloaded the theme, you’ll get an email notification when the update is released.
Hi,
yes i already figured that it must be the order variable on line2. What do I have to fill in? It’s set to “asc” by default which means it’s sorting chronologically. What do I have to fill in if I want the sort order set in the wordpress page-edit (I gues it was called “page weight” in former versions)? I tried “weight”, but that was just a stupid guess of mine. I am not too much into handcoding….
super theme! I have tried to use it for my new site. But I have a question, how can I apply the popup bubble for other tabs except for first one?
Thanks!
@Knoth,
It would be a good idea to search the wordpress codex page for your answers as you will find them much faster than posting a question here. You are looking for the orderby parameter.
@kevin,
Just take a look at the javascript, css and html for the popup bubble. You’ll be able to duplicate it without too much hassle. I could probably make the menu/bubbles into their own widget, but I haven’t the time right now.
It was probably not the best time to release when I did as I just got back from out of town and I am leaving town tomorrow for a week. I won’t have time to work on anything BustATheme related until I get back.

I have some problem with it. The problem can be seen only with firefox in windows (xp sp3). With IE 7 (xp sp3) or browsers under OS X (leopard 10.5.5) has no trouble with it. The problem: embedding flash objects (I’ve tried the swf object and the embed code of jw player and swf object code of dfgallery. both jumped out of the page box on before the next and after the previous page). Hello, Hello Hello!
I’ve been on a 2 month hiatus for various reasons and am just returning. I’ve got a very busy month ahead of me, but I will definitely be devoting some off-time to this and a couple other Premium WordPress Themes I have in the wings. The amount of continued attention this thrown-together site has gotten over WP CODA is incredibly encouraging.
Just more proof that all you need is quality content.
Beautiful theme, and glad to see you’re back! I hope that the long-awaited version 2 is still in the offfing ![]()
I was just testing the scrolling mechanism and notice that scrolling forward goes all the way to the last panel, however this doesn’t happen when you reach the end. It goes backward one panel at a time. Should the functionality be the same forward/bacward for the scrolling? If so how can I change it.
Thanks
Man WP coda is really some good work but i can’t wait for the next version cz im about to apply it for a company I have no time to work on it so i will use ur theme.

Thanks and keep up with good work,

Hi greg,
i’m glad you’re still on this project, actually you did a grat job!
thanks for that..
i’m using to design an artist portfolio, and i’ll be glad to show it to you once finished. very nice content..
i’m just a bit stucked about changing the bg color/image background for every page.
normally, on a common theme this loop http://wordpress.org/support/topic/138522 would work, but as you defined the “images/page_bg.png” as the bg image for the page, how would you build the loop to have several different bg images? i think several page class should be defined in the css also..
thank you

I would love it if you could shoot me an e-mail when coda blue (w/ PSD’s

Hi,
i was looking for a way to display different backgrounds (colours or images) on each page.
I first tried some weird way to do it, as i read about this loop here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/138522 but, as this theme preloads all the pages to be able to show them with the slide effect, that would not work.. so i came up to a much elegant and better solution:
every page body exists between a tag with the name of the page as the id, so just add a class with that id to the stylesheet and you’re done!
example: if your page is named ‘info’ put a div#info {
background:whatever }
just one thing Greg.. i don’t know why but any bg image i specify as mentioned above, stays on top of the mask (page_bg.png).. any ideas?
thanks again for your great job!
Max

Any chance this will be available to download? That link doesn’t work (wants me to log in).
